Freeware that allows you to add multiple layers of vocals/music?

I’m looking for freeware that allows me to add more than 2 layers of vocals and music. I’ve tried layering on Windows Movie Maker, but it’s very difficult to put one on top of the other.

If you know of an affordable software that is available at stores, that’s fine too. Thanks!

    audacity , its a free , open source , track recorder , similar to cakewalk sonar. It may take some getting use to using though.
